Medicare Part B - Special Age 65 Benefit
The special benefit for Medicare Part B premium reimbursement is eliminated. This applies to:

a retired employee or a surviving spouse, age 65 or older, or under age 65 and enrolled in the Voluntary Medicare coverage that is available under the Federal Social Security Act by making contributions and is receiving a special benefit of $76.20 per month;and
an individual who was not enrolled in Medicare Part B as of November 19, 1990 but who was receiving a special benefit under the 1988 program of $28.00 per month.

This modification is not applicable to a Retiree or surviving spouse who retired or began receiving surviving spouse benefits before October 1979, and whose benefit is provided through the pension trust. The special benefit payment will continue for those pre-1979 Retirees and surviving spouses.
